Recently bought a 2005 Honda with FHSH.

Just wondering what peoples opinions are on whether i should maintain it or go to my local garage?

Some people say:

Main dealer = higher resale value

But

Local garage = lower prices with a lower resale value but possibly the costs saved
could balance this out overall?

Thoughts?

not that i want to promote arnold clarke but we do very well priced servicing using genuine manufacturers part and their correct scheduled repair/replacements. get down to your local one and ask.

i think ours are about 100-£150, so getting a manufacturers plan at less cost. sounds like what your after?

Mate i wouldent care about resale value as cars are worth less and less everday.
Aslong as its got service history then i do not think it matters where its from.

Also add any small garage can offer genuine manufacturers parts just offer a smaller labour bill.

yeah exactly, you might aswell forget resale value these days.
As far as Arnold Clark go, both myself and my gf deal with them at work and have found them to be a pain in the arse!

What kind of honda is it, who will be the most likely resale market, some people will value the honda history more than others.

this wont be the same for everyone but if there were 2 identical cars in everyway including price apart from one had main dealer history and the other didn't then which would you buy?

I'd buy the one with main dealer although I do know that this means it could have been serviced worse than somebody doing it themself.
Feels better because you've got stamps in a book.

You're in a much better position if things go wrong outside of the initial warranty that are borderline the fault of the manufacturer.

For instance with saab, the bulkheads on rhd 9-3's develop cracks.

If you go in with an 8 year old car and full saab history they'll repair it free.

If you go in with no history they most likely won't.

service is a service at the end of the day, but i would keep going the main dealer as the age of the car and technology
