All I see in the drilling airbox threads is red x's but I'm at work. So open a couple of tutorials and you'll see pics, and obviously a guide

Don't drill your Airbox and Don't put an Induction kit on.

You don't get any extra BHP... it's called the Placebo effect... When it sounds loud you think you're going faster. You're not, all you're doing is taking in warm air, you may see an Increase with a Closed induction kit, but then you have the issue of Minute Particles of Grit gettin through and into the Cylinders.

Regular service, Regular Paper filter chage and you will notice a huge difference.

Give it a try, next time you go to a rolling road, run a OE Panel then run an aftermarket one, you'll see theirs no difference. Tried and tested, I also own a Vectra SRi140 and thought the same, just been on rolling road with the above test and made no difference.

Ask 20valver im sure i read he put an induction kit on his metro and gained about 50 MPH

But i drilled my airbox on my GSI and it was much better than an induction kit slurping in hot air

my answer would depend on what car it was. some cars need a cone filter as airbox and panel filter just isnt adequate enough.

I've got a de-restricted airbox, drilled on inner wing side and K&N panel. The air filter needs a clean now but I aint paying 10 quid for a cleaning kit so might sell it on here for a tenner and get a couple of new paper filters (one for spare, obviously lol) as I also doubt theres much power difference.... any more opinions on standard filter vs. K&N panel?

You'd have to be a complete dimwit to think just coz your car is louder, you're going faster 20valver might think that but he is 20valver after all
Ya don't drill ya airbox for a power gain (obviously) you do it for a nice sound when ya put ya foot down. Nuff said.

Filmed this about an hour ago, don't know exactly why there's that much white smoke because the engine had been running for an hour and a half

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=t2sIP5qU-44

That's just with the side bit taken off and a standard air filter.
