perspex / polycarb windows..

If you are fitting a roll cage, consider removing the side impact bars in the doors.. they weigh a fair amount

removing any unused brackets

remove any unsused control units and wiring (airbag springs to mind)

if your going hardcore - remove heater system - remove radio, wiring and speakers

lightweight wheels make a difference because-
1. they are lighter
2. reduces unsprung weight
3. reduces inertia so you accelerate and decelerate faster.

think ill be going with an omp cage seem to be quite good and onto a few structural points for the money.

Can you get lockable bonnet pins or catchs that will be lighter than the standar catch?

... then at the first corner he came to, the car folded in on itself due to the only things holding it up being the wiring loom.
