I’ve been out of work for a few month’s now and have been looking and there just isn’t anything out there job wise.
I’ve been thinking along the lines of a small business running from home IE: Ebay/website, but I just don’t have any ideas to get me started.
Plus on the money side of things I don’t have much would be starting with around £1000
I have found a deal on 700 mixed car air fresheners for a good price but I just wouldn’t like to put the money into it if nothing takes off.
i just dont know

what would you be doing with the air freshners? selling them through ze bay?
not being funny, but do peopld actualy buy them on ebay other than in bulk? would be easier to nip to garage or summat than wait about 3 days for it to turn up
thats just my opinion though.

I've looked into stuff like this before. You really need to find a decent supplier.
Any of this stuff that you can buy in bulk won't make you much money.
I also think you need a better product than car air fresheners. The only problem is if you want a decent supplier you need more disposable capital.

Small sale items like those are easily bought in bulk (as James said) so lots of people are selling them cheap - so the mark up you'll make will be next to nothing.
IMO sell a product you know about and have a good supplier for. You may sell smaller numbers but in a less competitive market and higher mark ups it would probably be worth it.

What I did as a sideline a couple of years ago was check out the auctions. I bought a few camcorders, shavers and things for next to nothing and the whacked them on ebay.
There are usually auction houses in most towns and are on quite often. Just make sure you do a bit of pricing research first though i.e. checking how much the items are selling for on ebay, and make sure you buy new or at least test them.
Minimal setup costs and also quite fun!

find a free cam script for the site
put on one show an evening for a £5
advertise on adultfriendfinder, match, faceparty and such, tell your mates in the local pub, everyone who knows you will have a look for a giggle..

You may laugh, but the answer is car boot sales...
I used to go down on a sunday mega early, keep my eye out for decent stuff and buy it knowing I could make a profit.
As an example, I bought a laptop for £20. Took it home, formatted it, installed XP and sold it on ebay for £110.
I've done this with various items. Gets a bit tiresome when I'm earning a decent wage at work tho. If I was ever out of work, I'd be there every sunday.
