Why didnt you ask to do the higher paper?
I was in top and had no choice but to do higher (only got a B but still, i hate maths with a passion) Many of my friends who were limited to doing the intermediate paper were able to do higher if they asked to.

Didnt see what they had to lose seeing as higher was only an additional bit on the end

Because a B-grade on Intermediate is easier to achieve than B-grade on Higher, and I would have been more likely to get a C on the Higher paper. I was advised by the teachers, and tbh, they know best.

As a result, my lowest grade at GCSE was a B, of which I got 3

Cold, out of their environment, a bit downbeat, and just generally agitated at their loss maybe? Just a few things these poor squirrels will encounter.
