Went to Specky conversions today to have my new exhaust fitted. Plan was to lop off my puny 2.5" tailpipe, chop off 5" length of the new backbox, flip reverse it, weld onto my backbox as a new tailpipe. Then slide what was left of the new backbox inside, then create a mount. - and it all worked as planned.

Pics below

It's now very quiet, and I should hopefully get on trackdays now. Woop
Thanks mr Speck:beer:

Subtle eh?

You're right, it does look amusing, but needs must. Pointless having a trackcar that can't get onto tracks because it's too loud

Now I can, and it didn't cost me that much

Static and driveby tests. Upper limit is 105db, mine is 105db. Most tracks are 98-102db

Do people actually read threads anymore, or have they lost their intelligence and just look at pictures? The backbox is PURELY for trackdays to bring the noise of the car down, and will be removed when on the road

Didn't ask you to be a sheep, but I didn't ask for an opinion on how it looks, did I? Subtle options, hmm, no their aren't, none that come with a guarantee'd drop in sound levels.

ok then, from a function point of view it's great as it allows you to do trackdays which is the whole point of the car

Wont fit, and, again there would be no guarantee it would have reduced noise levels to where I needed them to be. This is the best option.

I already have a centre silencer and backbox, this is 105db.

The bit I've fitted would no way fit under the car before my centre silencer. If I chopped out the centre silencer that is currently in place, and replaced it with the large one there is no guarantee that the noise level would be brought down to the level that I needed it to be.

The only way to guarantee what I needed, was to effectively add a 3rd silencer to the end of my system.

Wont that weigh a fair bit and loose you some power? On mine i had a silencer where the cat should have been, the middle box and the back box and it was well below the db track limits.

Weighs 10kg so kinda annoyed I've needed it, but hey ho.

Ideally I'd have the full system redone, but funds won't allow at the moment. This is a quick and easy fitment that I can put on/off when needed.

Plus I'm loosing some more weight from the car during winter, so it'll effectively still be lighter than before anyways :thumb:
