Allow the engine to spin up more freely as it has less mass to move.
Basically it will make your engine rev quicker but at the expense of some torque

A lightened flywheel has no effect on torque. This was proven when i had my old Vectra V6, rolling roaded twice and inbetween the only 2 factors i changed was flywheel and enlarged throttle body. Both power and torque went up!
I know on the V6 it made a huge difference, all positive all of which have already been mentioned above.

Lightened flywheel allows your engine to rev quicker as it has less mass to spin.
The downside is you will find that you need to drop gears more often when pulling up large hills etc

the throttle body induced torque increase could have offset the torque lost due to the flywheel

it makes the car easier to accelerate and decelerate anywhere, thats it....dosn't make it slower in any way.
