Dad hit a puddle of standing water and went sideways at 90mph in his 530sport, needless to say the crash barrier was fooked and it was a write off.

So needed to replace it with something, mum needs a car more as my dad is travelling abroad so she got to pick..

Picked it up from IMC today, its awesome wont be to everyones liking but its a really nice car, amazing how different to drive than the m3 it is!

Heres some dodgy pics:

And our two E46's minus my sisters slk and thats our fleet

Comments/suggestions all welcome

Its about the same height as the m, my driveway slopes.

Hard top might mae a difference tho?

I didnt like the wood at all in the pics, its less offensive in the flesh/wood but then its not my car, and they are old so they like it

Makes a cool ass noise too, semi auto with little buttons on the steering wheel to shift up and down

Looking at the lines of the bumper, not the roof line I thought it looked a fair drop on the Alpina

Has smaller wheels as well don't forget hence looking lower.

See I understand Alpina, but i can never get their engines? 3.3 Straight 6, more cc than yours, but less everything.

Whats special about the Alpina 3.3 engines anyone know?

Apart from expensive Alpina wheels, a few Alpina badges scattered everywhere, whats do they offer over a normal BMW to make the costs so much more?

Im actually interested, not being sarcastic either

Daimo its exclusive and a softer experience than the m3, more GT cruiser than balls out RWD loon car.
Suspension is not as harsh, its all unique styling ques, unique exhaust note etc...

Plus its an Auto, they dont make m3's auto!

But isn't this what the 330 is all about?

I thought the 3.3 to be quite underpowered? And you've mentioned is quite a bit slower than the M3?

Auto's suck ass

I get Alpina, just never could warrent the price they charge for what you get in return Obviously this doesn't apply so much on a 2nd hand car.

Doesn't look too great imo, colour + interior make it look quite dated. Your M3 is much nicer.

I think everyone that's saying things like this has seen the Alpina Z8 review on Top Gear.

Valid question though.
