Just curious how you all acquired your knowledge of cars and maintaining them.

I've never had family members who knew about cars, so I've only just started learning when I had to maintain my own vehicle (bike in this situation, but still the same basically). Completely self taught.

Baffled how so many people seem to have in-depth engine knowledge. I know the basics but when people start talking about manifold angles and stuff it just goes over my head.

I love reading through project threads on here, and turbo engines generally fascinate me.

How did you learn what you know about cars?

Mother and father always had practical interest in cars, my brother tried but failed a lot, and I learnt most of my car stuff from working on the Corsa.

Sadly it's all gone out of the window now with the rotary, but I can still do all the general maintenance if needs be.

Some people don't care how it works so long as it does, I like to know what's happening.

Always loved them from a very very young age, no idea why.

Leant by taking something apart and seeing how it went back together, self taught basically.

The technical geekery I have is from 8 years of tinkering with stuff.

Was always around lorries and heavy machinery because of my dads scrap yard..
Car wise I needed something to do after school so went to college and did my level 1 nvq then I sodded it off and did music tech.. But kept an interest in cars.. Messing with mine.. Then after college and getting my btec in music I didn't like the idea of uni debt.. So got a job in parts

I'm often in the workshop seeing whats happening..

But the majority of my knowledge is corsa based from Reading up on here and owning 3 of them..
