Too totally different cars, about the only common factor is they have wheels and run on diesel
My best mate just bought a navara. Its top spec with full leather, sat nav, auto etc and it is brilliant. Spacious, smooth etc
But its not very quick, does like 20 something mpg, and suspension is quiet hard for what you would expect (its really smooth but when you get to a speed bump or something it becomes really hard wierd really).
Astra will do nearly twice as much mpg, alot less space, but wil be alot cheaper to run.
Do you do alot of miles? whats your job?

yea ano richc but i do love both cars so much i do alot of miles yea but mpg doesnt bother me at all. and i could have allsorts of off roading fun in the nav. where as the astra would be more sensible but couldnt go of roading. and no i dont want no old evos or nowt that will break all the time thaty why am looking at something newer.
