It will be slower. But it will be more refined, safer, comfier and generally better, imho.

not bad cars tbh, i have one, and tbh, they aint that fast as standard, a 106 gti will JUST have the edge standard to standard.....
and as above, turbo's are your friend , well, mine is, my bestest friend

my car has 128bhp and i can keep up with standard gti's but my car and im sure any corsa C will be shit in the corners, if you want to get a nice driving car then the C is better than the gti, but if you want soemthing that is more sporty and less refined, gti.

th problem is, you dont find any standard 106 GTi's etc these days so people saying my car can keep with um, and saying nah they're slow depends on loads of factors,
i can bet no-one has had a go from the off standard to standard, both similar miles/history with 2 compotent drivers.....

indeed, just one of those things i guess,
standard to standard, they will be pretty similar, nout really different, the 106 will handle better and may have the edge out of corners, but nothing drastic.
the 1.8's also respond very well to engine work...
believe me

It may be a slight be slower than a standard 106 gti, and yeh it might not handle as well as a standard 106 gti BUTfrom the 106 git's i have driven the corsa is so much more of a car, less noise and rattle's, nice gear change, doesnt scream for it life at high rev's, feel safe on the road, feel's more solid too.
If you want a rag aound dont give a fuk car = 106/vts
or something that is comfy and still has a bit of poke = 1.8 sri by far
