Girlfriend called earlier and said she had woken up with a sore neck for no reason?!

This was at 9am and she hasn't gone into work as it hurts when she moves her head to the right and up.

I reckon she slept in an awkward position and thats the reason why? No point in going to the doctors surely?!

it'll ease up after a day or so. tell her to take some pain killers and keep moving her neck gently as it'll stiffen up if she holds it still. and maybe you should have her stretch next time you have the sexy time.

I've had this before, it's really not nice. It may have been caused by sleeping funny, but the muscles went into spasm etc every time i tried to move my head. However that lasted about a day and the muscle spasms stopped, but it took about a week for the pain to go completely. I didn't bother going to the doctors as the same thing happened when i was younger and I was just given ibuprofen and (maybe) a muscle relaxant?

Sounds Likely sleepy muscle spasm: warm bath and analgesia, heat packs & ibugel gels etc...

Concerning features would include; temperature + photophobia (unable to tolerate light) and drowsiness/confusion. If these were present I would present to A&E (rather than own doctor).

I remember when a mate slipped a disk in his neck/stop of spine when he bumped up a curb on his bike, i didn't believe him that it hurt and was pushing him to make him move etc, then he went home in tears and then to hospital to find he had a slipped disc

I didn't make him cry, he's my best mate. I typed it out wrong, i was like joking with him thinking he was playing around or faking it, it was only till i saw tears that i realised it was real.
