wondering if anyone has any ideas, i'm thinking the worst about my x16xe, due to worn bearings on the water pump the timing belt slipped half a notch, didnt seem to have done any damage tho, as when a new water pump, tensioners and belt fitted it fired up first time, and seemed to run fine, however....when its cold the engine seems to get bursts of power on the over-run, ie when u take your foot off the gas, the throttle blips itself slightly, gives a bit of a jerky ride! still pulls like a train tho, no funny noises or rattles, just slightly worrying, what do you guys think!? I'm suspecting some head damage somewhere!

Not quite sure how you skipped 'half' a tooth

Anyhoo, sounds like shagged engine mounts or worn clutch plate springs.
