just wondering what 1.6's have got at the wheels slightly modified. mine made 90.5 at the wheels and want to know if this is common or just plain shit. it made 128 at the fly so has lost 38 brake, how can i try and re-coop some of the power?

the crank makes 128bhp, then that power is transfered to the wheels Via the flywheel the gearbox the diff and the shafts and by the time it gets to the wheels some has been lost

the dyno machine measures the wheel horsepower then by letting it run down it converts the mechanical drag into the extra power at the crank

I think 30bhp is about right

I agree with Matt, and it normally doesn't work on a certain bhp, such as 30 bhp, but rather as a percentage.

true. No machine is 100% efficient. therefore you get losses

Mine made 95bhp at the wheels, 120.2bhp at the fly, that's just with an inlet.

not all dyno's calculate the losses by allowing the car to run down naturally, dyno dynamics dont, nor do mustang.

maha do.

flywheel figures are worthless anyway. tyre pressures can affect what power it makes at the wheels, alsorts of little things can also affect the reading.

all you need to know is the power at the wheels, no-one can actually give an accurate flywheel figure if calculating from the wheels. only genuine way to get a fly figure is an engine dyno!

flywheel figures just sound more impressive, your motor is about right

whys that? - because fwd as said you have flywheel/gerabox, dif, shafts, wheels.

rwd you have the above including prop shaft.

a dyno pac dyno couples straight to the drive shaft flanges instead of the wheels turning the drums for the reading
