Has anyone had a conversion done by courtenay sport and if so what is the quality of the conversion like and what did you have done also what did it cost?

Iv been pondering over eitha getting a newer car or getting a conversion for about a year done on my 1.2 8v because this is the only reason why id want a new car because i want more power but still love my B.

I have asked all over if any garages around my area will do the conversion for me.They eitha say it involves too much work and wont do it or they are a bunch of cowboys.

If i get it done i want it done right with no short cuts along the way and so courtenay sport is my last option even tho i will have to travel over 200miles to get there.I have heard nothing but good things about courtenay sport like in total vauxhall magazine you see loads of there work in there.

As far as i am aware Courtenay Sport do not do engine conversions on the old cars (like Corsa B's etc) they sub-contract all the work out to another place.

I am not 100% sure mate, its just something i am told.
They will say they do engine conversion but its buisness mate, example Courtenay charge you £3000 for a C20XE they send the car to another garage who charge Courtenay £1500.
Courtenay make £1500 for doing nothing.
NOW do not hold me to this its just what i am told.

Just do your research mate before hand.

Just because its a small garage dosent mean they will do a bad job mate.
I am sure people could slagg of courtenay sports work / regals work etc etc.

Here a car where the conversion was done in a Muddy Barn/field with no electric lights etc No engine Crane engine was lifted in with ropes by hand (back in the old days )

What Conversion are you looking at mate?

Bottom line with everything is, if you spending alot of money on something then research every last bit until you are 100% happy.
Just because it cost more dosent sometime mean more.

You need to think what engine you want, maybe see if anyone local to you can take you for a drive in one OR let you drive one.
Think about what budjet you have to spend on this engine ie more you have more you can replace.
Weather you want extras - Samco Hoses, performace exhaust etc

If you want someone to talk you are more than welcome to pop to my unit/garage and we can have a chat face to face and i will give you as much advice as you want even if i do not do any work on your car i am more than happy to help people out when i can.

One last thing - DO NOT RUSH INTO IT

wooly101uk put it this way, i have done 1 c20xe conversion & when i wanted a c20let i could of dropped it in.

I don't know beardy from adam, just spoke to him on the phone & on here ect. I've put my trust in beardy & sent my car to him & he's doing a fantastic job ( check the project ).

I've only done it that way because when someone on here ask for a conversion the name that comes up the most is " beardy ". I could of taken my car any where to be converted & he's the only person i trust to do my car.

i don't know anyone around here with a XE or 1.6 sport mate thats the problem so i don't really know what the power feels like from both of the engines.iv only been in my cousins 1.4 sport and that felt nippy tbh but it will to me with me driving a 1.2 8v for 2 years.

extras like hoses ect would be nice but depends on the cost of the conversion and other bits like brakes ect that will need upgrading too.
