Mixed reviews, some say "brilliant" others say it makes the brakes spongy.

How can having braided hoses, that don't expand make the feeling spongey? Makes no scientific sense.

From my experiences fitting proper, goodridge braided brake hoses (even if you just did the fronts) makes a significant difference in pedal feel. Well worth doing IMO.

Look you remedial, I'm going on other peoples experiences over the years not my own.

Obviously they were as special as you and never fitted them properly.

Rubber based hoses can have comparable expansion rates to the stainless hoses. Any improvement will depend on the quality and condition of the hoses currently fitted to the vehicle

wouldnt say mine were in that bad condition as its a 53 plate car. Just wondering if they are worth £60 whilst its in bits anyway.

As I dont think mine have that much "feel" atm. Its nothing nothing, nothing then head through the windscreen

Sounds like the majority of over boosted modern brake systems I'd say if you have the system apart anyway, then changing to stainless hoses is unlikely to do any harm, the stainless also has the major advantage of improved abrasion resistance (although you shouldn't have any contact on the hoses, they are always at risk from road debris)

I fitted them, MASSIVE difference, but I did fit uprated brake discs at the same time so it's not easy to decide which did what

I see your point Gav, and I was the same, but you really gotta give it a go, you will save £40 or so in labour, or get someone who knows what they're doing to come round, if they show you how to do one side, then you try the other side, if you mess it up there is someone there who knows what they are doing to fix it!
