GM has been in trouble for years & fords had the worst sales since 1983 or something. They'll stay afloat, expect big changes however.

Daewoo is a good company fast becoming a mainstream car builder.

Likewise with Chevrolet, its expanding outside the US.

Althought I think Vauxhall and Opel are GM's main income at the moment

They are making losses, but they won't ever go under. I don't understand why Opel/Vauxhall don't go it alone these days.

Daewoo and Chevrolet are the same company Daimo.

"GM Daewoo" changed Daewoo's brand name to Chevrolet as it hoped it would increase sales and shake off the crap image Daewoo had.

But people know there's nothing special about these Daewoo/Chevrolet branded cars - they were just mostly rehashed old GM models (example: Nexia > Astra mk2).

GM wont be allowed to go under from the US, huge home grown company with '000s of jobs. Also if GM went bust shares in the car industry would see a huge bottom out, confidence would plummet and everyone would be getting out

OK so the quality of materials isn't great.

But they are still a good manufacture.

So bad they offer a 5+ year warranty? Or good reliable cheap parts that seem to work.

Yes it'll never be as fast, or as well built, or handle, or stop as well as anything european, but as a CHEAP good reliable car, they are very good cars.

GM, Daewoo, Chevvy, Vauxhall, Holden, Opel, plus a few others are all under the GM badge.

as said in the other thread. ford of asia and europe are keeping Ford America afloat...

the demand for our 1.4td and 1.6td engines is picking up again (making on average 1500 every 24 hours)! so just goes to show that there are still MANY MANY people buying new cars.
