I've never had to insure a car with an altered engine capacity before and I'm a little dubious about my insurers.. Basically I've got to send back my insurance schedule but it states the engine size is still 1195cc but an attached piece of paper says "Engine conversion", I phoned up the under-writers and they say this is normal practice.. hmmmmmmmmmmmmm

The insurance agent was very helpful and knew what they were talking about.. I was just expecting to see and insurance schedule with everything listed

It doesnt help that the DVLA still think its a a 1195cc but that couldnt be helped lol

You can get that changed quite easily on the Log book by updating engine numbers etc... main thing is it's insured right - A lot of people don't do it!

Dont worry the V5C will be amended.. But I'm wondering if it is normal practice to just list the engine on a seperate piece of paper...

I was with Adrian Flux. When i phoned up and told then,i got a shock when the lassie on the other end started rattling off the engine codes. Is it a C20XE Mr Lindores.Erm,yeah how do u know that.lol..

Theyr pretty clued up aswell. If they ask what brakes and suspension is on it,and you say just standard, they will either decline your policy,or get an insurance surveyor out to check.

On my policy with Highway, thro AF.All it says is: Non standard Engine
Suspension:Uprated, lowered and stiffened springs and dampers.
Uprated brakes.

And the funny thing is,it dosnt cost any extra for the engine conversion or brake/suspension mods.
All they have done is ran the quote for the donor vehicle that the engine came out.

Brentacre seem very good every time I've spoke to them on the phone but I went with Chris Knott as it was cheaper - they insure via highway insurance IIRC.

Theres next to nowt on my cert of insurance to state mods but they're deffo listed elsewhere lol

Brentacre are an awsome broker, really are not retards like Flux who cannot think outside of the box.

My policy is through highway and twice now I have been hit by an uninsured driver and they have been muchos helpful and reak pleasant to deal with...not something you usually associate with insurance companies

How does that work tho if they are all under-written by Highway??How is it possible for 1 company to be cheaper than the other??

I was with Flux and cant fault them.Every other company i phoned asked for my best quote, ran me theyr quote and asked if it was Flux who has gave me the best so far,and that they cant beat them

Im also having it a bit bother with my previous insurance company releasing my NCB and Flux have given me numerous extensions without asking questions.

yea...brentacre are great! They know what they are talking bout and their power limit system works brilliantly!

Means you can do what you want with suspension, cages, brakes etc, and just ring them telling them you have done it...they'll update their system and there is no charge or increase.
