iv had mine taken out 3 times, the ladt one they supposidly removed the bit that makes it grow...its back but i can keep it at bay now, i didnt get a band round mine just 3 injections to num the toe cut up the midle with strong scissor things then yanked out with some plier things painfull for ages after mind specially when feeling comes back

My dad had to have that done on his toe 
..also, I had to have surgery on my big toes to cure an ingrown toe nail. Similar procedure to this but they cut away the edges instead of removing the whole nail.
Looks and sounds a bit nasty BUT anyone who has had an ingrown toe nail will understand the relief as soon as the little bugger is out
