I thought the 'allowed to drive to mot station' thing was if you just had no mot & if you have no tax the car should be sorn'd & not on the road at any time.

That was my understanding anyway!!

You can mot without tax though!?

Trailor to garage - MOT. Pass -> Insure the thing, Apply for tax!

Would be the correct legal way of doing things!

Also if you've no tax any insurance policy is pretty much invalid. If something happens.

Ok I was wrong about the tax [hangshead]

Deffo need insurance though!! Which still sheds a grey areaover whether the policy is legit with no tax.

http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring/OwningAVehicle/HowToTaxYourVehicle/DG_069671

' Driving an untaxed vehicle to an MOT test -

You can drive your vehicle to and from a pre-arranged test at an MOT test station provided you have adequate insurance cover in place for the use of that vehicle.

This also applies to vehicles being driven to and from a prearranged test at a Vehicle Inspection Check (VIC) test station, an approved weight testing station and reduced pollution test.'

But god knows for Fully Comp people.

Going to check my policy in the am

I expect it will say needs to be in a roadworthy condition with valid mot & tax or something similar!

I think thats going to be the main issue is having insurance which is valid while on the road with no Tax or mot.......I can see there being a problem is you had an accident with either party not wanting to pay out.

God knows!!

So in summery, you dont need a valid mot or tax to drive to a mot station, you only need insurance, however you'll never get cover!!
