What's the general view on these?

Tax is still cheap, it's only insurance group 9, retains 50mpg +. Good all round car is it not?

Good MPG for travelling to work, yet packs a bit of a poke (and smoke) when you put your foot down. A remap gives you even more poke and supposedly makes the MPG better.

I've never been bothered about MPG, but I spent £300 on petrol for my Fiesta last month, and £150 on my bike, obviously my bike still does 35 mpg when doing 170 so I'm not worried about that, just thinking of a new car so suit my needs a bit better.

I also think the styling is very good, plus the interior looks quite comfy. Seems to have the 'goodies', AC, E/W, E/M etc...

And they are going for like 5-6k now, for an 05 plate, cheap

Thoughts? Good points or bad points about them?

Well I like them.

50MPG is only really possible on Motorway runs, the 130PD engine isnt the most frugal on fuel becuase of its power-obsessed map.

Comfy car IMO, just the usual little VAG problems...

I do 50/50 town/motorway driving, I did think the figures from Autotrader might be stretched a bit too much

What's the usual VAG problems?

i do probs 30/70 and manage 45 out of the ibiza, on 17's, giving it a bit of stick. My journey to work doesn't help (crawling all the way while engine cold), I have seen 400 miles to 35-6 litres a couple of times though.

Rattly trim, door locks, minor leaks.

I get 350 from a 35 litre tank (~£38 to fill at the moment) without fail.

I got 62 indicated MPG out of my last tank on the ibiza

Don't know how many miles because my GF reset the clock half way through

And, if you think about it, 45MPG out of a car with 145bhp and 240lb/ft (RR'd) is bloody good!

Brilliant cars, mine had a few bits go wrong but all were replaced under warranty.

Comfortable, quick with a remap, handle quite well but can be made much better with the rear arb, wish I still had mine.

I got 37mpg on my remaped fabia, driving it quite hard everywhere tbh.
Got 32mpg on the same routes driving it a lot easier because I hated it sounding like it would blow up when revving the tits off it to get it to go fast.

I thought Diesels were meant to be immensely good on fuel! That's not as good as I was expecting....

Excellent John, I was hoping someone would be along who had one. I now have lots of questions

How much to fill a tank roughly?
How many miles out of a tank?
What were the problems?
Nice car to drive in general?

Oh please, diesels have come on big time in the last few years, man up and realise it.

Deep down I do still want a petrol, but it wouldn't make sence for me.

I really really want a fast (petrol) car but it's not viable when I do 75 miles or so a day, sometimes more, plus I'd end up modifying it and it would get worse and worse.

I wish I had a company van
