Can't get a hold of Colin to ask this so hope my friends on CS can help

Right, I'm changing my car. Insurance on current car is paid up until June next year. If I take insurance out for my new car with another company, do I loose what I paid to the one I'm with now?

swap policy to new car with current insurer....to keep no claims build up for the year etc.

If you swap insurance co's you SHOULD get a part refund (AdrianFlux will rip you off though), minus some admin charges. BUT you'll lose that half year of no claims or however long its been

It'll be more beneficial to stay put for now as the NCD and depending on them will only want minimal to insure the new vehicle, or if it'd be less, refund anyway so better staying put 2bh :tumbs:

Then move in June

Ok thanks folks, I'll phone up current insurers and see whats what,

The reason I was going to change was I got some quotes online and was going to go for the cheapest, which wasn't my current insurer. But I didn't think about the no-claims etc.

Was a lot cheaper for me when I put my parents on my policy as named drivers

It depends on the named drivers and their driving history. If they have points and claims etc, they'll probably make the insurance go up. However, if they have a good record and a good amount of NC, they'll bring the price down! Hope that helps at all.

usually if their over 25 then it should bring the price down, usually under 25 can bump up the premium
