Quite a historical event, I've been up watching it tonight.
Really enjoyed John Mcain's speech where he concedes to Obama, Urging America, Democrats & Republicans alike to get behind Obama and support him through the struggle they are encountering and the rest of his presidency, He seemed very patriotic.

Another Good Speech by the President-Elect seemed quite inspiring and gave out a sense of hope with alot of ideals.
I hope he does well and can be as effective as he hopes to be.
Although America is a different nation their actions affect us greatly. most obviously financially with the credit crunch aswell as in other areas such as Iraq/the war on terror(AKA the Oil aqcuisition).

Its bigger than just a black man getting elected--- the political landscape of america has changed.
More Blacks, ethnics, Hispanics and poor people voted than ever before-- that means that there is a completely new section of society which now decides who gets elected. The Republican party will have to change for good- you will never again get a George Bush/ Reagan type politician elected- the new electorate will not vote them in.
Hopefully that means America stops its aggressive foreign policy and becomes a major force for good in the world. America is no longer run by Christians and the military- their influence on the country is now weaker than ever before.
Of course it depends if Obama can tame the corporations within the country but he has enough power in congress and the house of reps to do some real good.

Right choice IMO, hope he does well and sorts the US out as it will have a knock on effect to us which ever way it goes!

The fact the entire world almost, barring 3 countries, believes a black man signals a new dawn in world politics is quite astonishing imo in comparison with the casual racism I've personally encountered in 23 years on this earth.
