I would really like a private plate but on the DVLA website, they only give you a few options on combinations. Is it possible to enquire any combination or does it have to be a specific one? Any websites that people have that can help would be good.

What do you mean combinations?

You can only get current or prefix as always!

There are a few different combinations...

eg. Northern irish: "ABC 1234" or "ABC 123A" or "123 ABC" or "ABC 123"

Anyone know what age my dads plate would be... its format is 123 ABC

Edit: Doesn't matter. Just found out it could be of any year before August 1962.

DVLA will only sell like that either prefix style or currently style.

A1AAA

AA55AAA

If you want Irish

AAA 1111

Or pre-1963

AAA 111
1111 AAA

You need to shop around or wait for a DVLA auction.

I had one and liked using it to hide the age of my car, but its a pain in the arse and expensive to transfer when you change vehicles and at the end of the day probably isn't worth it.

Its only £80 to transfer it from car to car!

I love my plate. Especially with it being 888 which links in to 888 Race Engineering who prep the VX BTCC cars.

And to think I nearly went for 666!

Mine cost £750
