There should have quoted you for the recovery and what not they also should of offered to take it to your door or the garage!

Ring the police up and ask the crack, they cant stop you taking YOUR belonging out of the car! They wont let you strip it though just empty it out.

I would ring garage again and if they still wont let your take YOUR belongings then i would ask a policeofficer to meet you at garage to get the stuff, might even whip the seats out too and the cd and leave the rest for them to dispose of! Either you will pay 100 to get car back or you wont collect it ever ...

Did you sign any paper work to get it lifted ?

my mate had a similar problem when he stacked his saxo, he asked to get his stuff out of the car but they said they wouldnt release it until he paid for the recovery charge, which he hadnt been quoted for. when the bloke refused he just went in and got the car, which he was perfectly entitled to do as it was his and he didnt touch any of the garages property. if it was me id just take your property, garage cant stop you and they cant get physical cause it isnt worth them losing their job or arrested

They would have recovered it and you'd have had to pay whether you agreed or not.

It's nothing to do with the police how much it costs, he did tell you it would cost though so you should have asked or arranged it yourself.

They are 100% in there rights mate
you agreed to have them move your car
you agreed to have them take your car to there place (should of had them take it home)
End off the day mate i know its not help to you BUT you should of asked how much everything was going to cost.

As for going in and getting your property and being an arse, wrong wrong wrong.
All that will happen is you will get charged with trestpassing and they will just let the bill mount up and take you to court.
and every day is +22. You had a verbal agreement with the company.
if your at 450 now then add on this as i know how they work mate
For at least the next 4-5 weeks (at least) they will send letters back and forward
770 - in storage for that time
25 - (at least) admin per letter over this time
When it comes to court proceedings
88 - could not get a staff to leave work for 4 days to put it claim
100 - staff loss of earning for coming out of work to take all paper work in
50 - admin costs for the court claim
Then if it go's to court
100 - staff loss of earnings to go to court
60 - court costs

Total - 1643 AND you had a verbal agreement, an the company has the backup of the police as a whitness to this

I am in the game mate and do alot of this stuff. I have seen this happen LOADS.

If it was me, go and pay your bill and treat this as a leason hard learned.

A few years ago i broke down on the motorway and had to get the police to ring me a recovary as i wasent in any brakedown company. It cost me 220 to be towed 10miles.........

Trust me mate you will get no where, these places deal with this everyday.
you will get done for trestpassing.
YOU asked them to come and move your car, They came and move your car, what you expect them to do pull up and say "Hi there this is going to cost you XXX to have it moved" not at all, as these people know your in the shit and will take you for every penny they can.
YOU asked the police to get you someone out to move it
YOU should of asked them how much.
IF YOU was bothered about price you should of said i will ring around for the best price, i am sure you do with other things like insurance.

WHAT YOU SHOULD OF DONE is when the police said you want me to get someone to move it, you should of said can you ask them how much it will cost as if its to much i will have to ring around.

What is right and wrong dosent matter mate, i know its not right BUT thats how it is, they are 100% right and legal to do what they are doing.

Look at it this way -
IF one of your mates owed you 400 for work you had done on his car you knew you would never see this mate again if you game him his car back without paying, would you give him the car back?????
