Sorry if its a re-post, but im assuming everyone has seen the show plate news either in total vaux or elsewhere.
As of 1st November its gonna be illegal to supply and sell 'show plates'.
I think its bloody stupid. What difference does it make that someone has got something different. Even ones that have the letters in the right place, but have a logo or coloured border they are having a go at.
Ah well.

What about the little van buisnesses, like what was at my local cruise other night, selling just show plates? They have to shut down?

There was something like 20,000 crimes comitted last year involving false plates thats why they want to tighten it up. Mostly they are used to drive away from the pump without paying apparently!!

i'll bet most of these crimes are using stolen plates rather than plates bought online?

Its to stop people buying plates for ringers and petrol-runs..
To be honest it wont stop people because t hey will just steal plates or have them made up by people who dont care about the laws.. Typical government naievity, they make something illegal to try and stop people from doing something else that is illegal.. Its like the handgun ban which is obviously supposed to prevent people from being killed in shootings.. Problem is someone who is willing to kill someone isnt going to be fussed about breaking another law lol.
So the people who are ringing motors and doing petrol runs arent exactly going to be bothered about having to illegally purchase some number plates!
Its a joke!

As always criminals will always be able to get what they need. This isn't going to stop that.
That said, I don't see why people have a problem with just obeying number plate law.

they will always be available even if they would be commiting a crime by producing them.
loopholes galore.

yea, they will alway be available, and if you buy them, its not you that gets into trouble...its the company. Its illegal to supply them, not buy them.
So if there are companies willing to risk that, then fair enough...thats on their heads!
