..over the standardised engine plans
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/motorsport/7694009.stm
To a point I can see what theyre getting at, but on the other hand it could make F1 more interesting to watch as a sport and teams will still have strategy and fine tuning on the cars to try and work an advantage from.
IMO this is Ferarri not getting thier own way and throwing the toys out of the pram, but then I'm not the biggest fan of Ferarris attitude so maybe I'm biased

Most small time motorsport puts people into classes according to their car to ensure equal competition.
Ferrari should stop whinging really.

problem being that they have some sort of hold over the sport
FIA should just fuck them off and tell them if they want to be a baby about it then carry on

What would be the point in everyone having a standard engine and then naming themselves 'Ferrari' or 'Mercedes'
Might as well be called, Team 1, Team 2 etc etc

the teams will still be produced thier own chasis, suspension, aero, braking etc....we have to remember here that not all the teams produce thier own engines anyway

Silly idea.
This is not A1GP
this is not Nascar
This is not Indycar
This is not Supercar V8's
All of which share very similar engines and performance.
I'd throtw some toys out too> Hey lets just ruin the entire history of F1 and TEAMS.
Whats next, all same engine MotoGP
Lame.

It wouldnt, as it would make F1 less glamourous, lose a huge amount of fans and therefore lose a huge amount of sponsorship money.

as already stated, if standard engines are used, your rapidly approaching A1GP, which is completely pointless. I believe they already use standardised engine management and obviously one tyre manfacturer, which some people could consider to be too much anyway...

What would be the point if all the engines are the same. Seems a bit 'lower level' to me.

Seems a weird thing to do, all having the same engines. I believe the idea is to reduce costs, but then that makes no sense because customer cars have been banned now.

All different engines with VERY similar outputs in performance. Unlike F1. These were examples of engines with both the same, and different manufactures, yet provides close racing as the tolerences are so close.
Indycars use different engines as well, so if your gonna point something out, do it properly
The point was we don't NEED another racing series where everything is the same. The entire levels of racing are like this already.
GP2
F Renault
F3
etc etc....
We need a racing series with different stages of development, it pushes car technology further forwards. Having no strife for engineering means no advancement.
