I'm willing to spend £200 a night in a nice hotel, country estate kinda thing, but a lot are minimum 2 nights. What alternatives are there for a similiar price?

Fair enough
I went to Peterborough not long ago to see Jimmy Carr.
Hotel was £85 for the Executive Room, 1 night, Friday - Saturday. Had a fantastic meal out in a place called 'Coco' - it's a Mexican. Can't recommend it enough!
But it's Peterborough City Centre free secure parking at the hotel mind

Room was nice - albeit apart from the painter doing the outside of the window when we got in the room
All the Executive ones have been refurbed, so worth paying £10 extra
