For £9k you could get a newer CTR than a 52/53 plate....
Had mt CTR 3 years and still happy with it

I have a 53 ctr facelift one

very happy with it and do not even think of paying 9k for one. nice examples start at 6K and a complete minter is about 8K tops for a final edition.

as your a couple of years older then me a DC5 should be kinder on insurance to you. better styling and sharper handling and 20bhp more

They would be my choice as they are more of a chuckable fun car then the others. although not as refined. astra would be a middle man but 9K might be scraping the barrel for one. and they are more thirsty

DC2's are nice but darn they look so dated now!

I went out for a test drive in a DC5 with my mate and it didn't float my boat having to rev the bollocks off it!

He ended up buying a Focus RS but that was over £9k

if the steering rack and gearbox etc are fine then there should be no problems. Honda engines are

Dan I had a tuned x16 corsa so am used to revving the tits off of cars

Once you know what gears to stay in they are a very rewarding drive

Get a ibiza cupra (mk3) for about 5k for a mint one, then spend the rest on mods (FMIC, remap, zorst, brakes, coilovers, etc)

How many miles has yours done Gav?

What would you say is the cut off point in terms of mielage as there are a few ctr's for under 7k but have 60k+ any problems with high ones?

mine was on 60k, done 3k in 3 weeks so far

they will still be strong if looked after well over 100k its the interior and body work that will get tatty and show the milage first

6k will get you an early facelift ie 53 plate with about 60-80k on
another grand will get you a low miler/newer one.

Or if you dont mind a pre facelift one there are some good bargins about.
I found out by looking at loads dont go just on milage. My 60k one is alot cleaner then some of the ones that have done 20k. Just have a good look around as there are loads to choose from and its a buyers market atm not a sellers

Astra VXR will probably be bit of a dog imho.

I'd go for an S3 or something if you want something good out the box.

£9k would get a good hot hatch though, like a Fiesta ST etc but it's whether you want to modify/tune or not?!
