OK, first off I mean no offence to the Motorcyclists out there so don't take any please but is it me or do 95% of them ride like total idiots? Everywhere you go you see signs saying 'Watch for bikes' 'Look twice for bikes' etc. etc. But how can you watch for them when they come flying up the middle of the road at about 70mph when everyone else is doing 30mph? And when you're sat in traffic and they ride up the inside at stupid speeds. If an innocent old lady looks down, realises her new skirt that Geroldine got her from Bon Marche is caught in the door; "Oh no, I'll open the door as I'm stationary and safe to get it out" Motorbike come down the middle of the road and..... SMASH! Injures himself, others and probably kills the old lady from a heart attack. I think its just silly the way they seem to make their own rules on the road and don't follow the law like everyone else.
....and they wonder why they get into so many accidents. On something that size, they should take more precautions not risks.
Rant over. Don't want to offend anyone just my opinion. Anyone feel the same?

Filtering through traffic is completely leagal...
I am currently doing my IAM Advanced Rider course and they teach you how to overtake and encourage you to do it.

i think the way some ride past horses on the road is shocking! one flew past me few weeks ago, no reguard what so ever for the tempremental nature of a horse, especially one as stupid as mine

Bikers do get a bad rap but it all boils down to envy from car drivers who have to sit in traffic

The old bike versus car argument. I have both so I can see it from both perspectives.
Filtering is definetly a jealously thing. The amount of cars who go out of their way to make my job as hard as possible to get through, and they wonder why the bikers then get pissed off. But of course with that you get the ones who move more out your way than they need to, but at least they have some decency to realise I'm going to make faster progress.
Same as with bikers, you get decent ones you get not so decent ones

If I see a biker wanting to overtake or filtering through traffic, I move over more to give them more room

If I see a biker coming up I'll usually move over as much as I can to let them by. No point putting them and myself in harm's way just because you don't like the fact they get further along than you.

Exactly, I'll move over for a bike, I don't see the point in people trying to stop them, aslong as they're not filtering whilst doing silly speeds then I don't see a problem. Only problem I have with filtering is when you get someone doing silly speeds and they're a hazard to everyone around them but you get that in cars too.
If there's one thing I'd say it's that a LOT of bikes that you see are quite often doing anywhere between 10 and 50 mph over the limit. Obviously people in cars speed too but bikes always seem to take it further imo.

when i see a horse rider pick up there horses dirty business, or even one acknowledge the fact that i have slowed down for them so as not to scare their horse i will be alot happier about them being on the road. not that my opinion matters.

the acknowledgement i agree with, i often slow down for horses and the ignorant ass on their back ignores you, this gets my back up. as for the other comment, its not very practical.....so your horse craps on the road, you get down off your horse on said road, stand there, some how holding it while you get your spade and brush off your back, clean the mess up, put it in a big bag, pick up your spade and brush again, get back on horse in traffic, asuming it hasnt run off or got run over while you were cleaning up its mess, then ride off. A lot of horses dont stand still while you get on them as it is, let alone riding them while carrying enough equipment to clean up the mess.....

why should we?? And how would we get anwhere? unfortunantly theres not huge amounts of bridal paths in this country, to leave the farm my horses are on, you have to ride on roads. or should horses just stand in a stable/field and get obese and die? I have a racehorse that needs strict amounts of excercise, not goina happen if i cant ride him
