What angle are they taking this one from?

Set when the old one was except with new characters?

Not sure about JJ-Abrams, although I like his stuff, Star Trek isn't a lost or fringe type show.

See what happens with it, Stark Trek franchise has went down the pan since enterprise, first time there hasn't been a set since the original, they took it all down.

He means it's when the characters from the original series were just starting out, not when the academy was just starting.
