Was chatting to a mate today and we have been trying to organise a night out clubbing soon, or even just a night down the pub with the lads.

Seems to be a growing trend of a lot of our mates nerver coming out anymore! Never see them during the week and they don't even come out at weekends anymore!

Wondering if its because we're getting older (24) or something! Me and my my mate both have girlfriends ( I even live with mine) but they understand that we have time out now and again to go down the pub and watch footy/clubbing etc!

Anybody else experiencing the same?

Most people I know do this... including me! Get a bird and the going out etc. stops.

Then as soon as its all over back to going out again. Doesn't bother me when my mates do it as I am as bad for it myself!

most of my mates still get to come out for lads nights when they have birds in tow. there's only a couple who ditch us for girls and they hardly ever have women at home anyway.

Nothing to do with being "under the thumb". I don't go out because I don't want to. It's fuckin boring going out watchin my mates trying desperately to pull when I have a bird at home. Just because I say "i'm stayin in with the bird" that doesn't mean i'm under the thumb. It's just a polite way of telling you that i'd rather spend a night in watching tv on my couch, than come out with you.

...and yes, people grow out of mindlessly going out to get pissed and waste money. Give me 6 cans, a tv and my couch anyday over a £100 night shit night out.

I have become quite guilty of it recently, but there are reasons. If I go out and get drunk it costs money whereas if I stay in I get to have fun with the gf and it costs me nothing.

Towns pish anyway, full of fannys and no fanny. Not that I would be looking to pull anyhoo but its nice to look at.

I was out drinking last weekend and saw one of my mates I hadnt seen in 2.5 years since we went to Ibiza. He'd just split with his bird and was saying how gutted he was that he hadn't been out etc the whole time he was with her.

Just annoys me really.

I'd rather go away for a night somewhere with the missus every couple of months than blow £100 every Friday/Saturday/Wednesday like some of my mates do! I went to Wales' only Michelin Starred restaurant a few weekends ago and the bill was £350 for the 1 night; I'd rather do that than blow it on beer in a stinking nightclub/bar, riddled with herpes and clamidiya(*sp) and jail bait

I catch up with my mates every couple of weeks but we'll go for a couple at a proper pub or out for a curry or karting etc

Course he's gonna say that He binned you off for a bird for over 2yrs. He's bound to play the sob story now as he wants mates to go out with again. Wait til he gets another bird again and see how he spends his Friday night

You'll find its not just going out and getting pissed, its everything, I've known people to go completely off the radar because of a bird. Not just stopping the nights out drinking.

I was sat here thinking of something to reply with to this thread, then you summed it up to absolute perfection. I couldn't of worded it better myself.

My mates hardly see me now as i live with my girlfriend in the next town (only 6 miles down the road). Fact of the matter is, with rent/bills and spending time with the girl i love i don't have the spare money to go out clubbing etc. Plus the fact that I hate clubbing now with a passion, its unbelievably shit.

It also annoys people the people saying it annoys them that their mates don't go out wasting their money, they stay in with their partners. Its called GROWING UP, some (if not most) people don't want to piss away their money on alcohol and mincing about in a grotty, stinking club filled with slappers. I find 9/10 times that the people moaning that they're mates don't come out are the single insecure ones who think they have to go out clubbing to meet a girl or the ones who are in a relationship but not a real one, you know one of those fake ones where each partner knows they aren't 100% happy but thinks they won't find anyone better so they stick together.

P.S - Also most of my mates have no ambition what so ever, they will happily stay living in the shit little town for the rest of their lives, living for the weekend. Where as i actually want to make something of myself and be successful. So i don't really enjoy my time if i go out or anything anyway

Are you for fucking real?

They are complaining because they have lost good mates to women, and as I've said above its not just about clubbing. When I go out with my mates to clubs its about going out and having a banging time with brilliant music, its not about pulling fat birds or who can drink the most.

Thats fair enough, but popping out for a couple of beers once a week isn't too much to ask surely!

I have definately started seeing less of my mates, all we have been doing as mates for a long time together is going out drinking and stuff (apart from playing golf and football which seems to have stopped for the minute anyway) which at 25 i'm really badly bored of, always the same old places, never really have much of a good time now unless it's a special occasion and there are loads of us out.

I'd much rather be doing something with the missus, admitedly if I didn't have a girlfriend i'd be out with my mates more often but only due to being bored. I don't think my mates begrudge me trying to find a bit of happiness tbh, and if it was (and it has been) the other way around i'd be cool with them as long as they make the effort every so often.
