Went to pick my Kx250 up today, the lad lived on a council estate and had a number of Fords on the drive, he had a battered sierra cosworth and a tattyish escort with a 2.0 turbo out a mondeo in it

he also has an escort cosworth which from my limited knowledge looked to be fake but he says it wasnt, it was a bit tatty too

but it had no spoiler and made a point about it being a rare one with no spoiler

Shit or Truth? he was a sound lad though

No shit and not truth

On the later models the whale tail was an optional extra,

And without it it made 3mph iirc more than with it

As far as I know, they all came with the whaletail, although you could buy a wrc kit with smaller spolier, or simply just take the spolier off and keep the lower half, not too sure tbh.

The Escort Cosworth never came without a spoiler, there where two choices Whale-tail, or the WRC spoiler. So he was telling crap, it's proberly a 1.3 Cossie look a like.

(Got beaten to it all, I had to spend time searching for the other one.)

Its true that the later small turbo models that the whale tail was an optional extra. Without the whale tail you just got the lower piece. Having grown up with cossies i should know. Will get pics of my dad's cossies if i find some

The picture above is correct

I believe the whale tail was not a optional extra, it was a option you could choose to remove from the spec sheet of the later small turbo models when ordering, but it was not a extra.

Also i dont know where all this WRC bollocks is coming from, they were never available with a WRC spoiler as the WRC spoiler was not a production part.
