Phoned up CarCraft to book my car in for new clutch [said that they can do it monday but was allowed to bring it on saturday so if they have a cancel they will have a "look" at it], so took my car into CarCraft on Saturday, re; clutch slipping [possibly cable going/gone it], drove it from Uttoxeter - Wednesbury which is an average 33 miles, got there, and said that they cannot give me a courtsy car due to only being 16 cars available and I was the 17th person, [co-incedence or what] so i was kinda miffed about that, because they said on the phone that they could give me one, the guy said that they will need to do a diagnostics test (which i thought they only carried out if it were a Electrical fault not mechanical ?) so they are going to try and charge me Ł45 just for that, then it should be done under warrenty as i took an extended warrenty out with them, (3years jobby) and in small print it says that it cant be done if its wear & tear? only had the car since last November not even a year yet, its coverd between 75-77000 miles, and the second owner, but surley it can't be wear and teear after 11 months? So if its not done under warenty it will be around Ł290 odd probabl bit more, so im going to ring round quotes today for IFI do have to pay. Where do i stand here.

Summary: Dont buy from CarCraft.

You've answered your own question. All these car supermarket places are con artists. The lad in work missus used to work for them and they have all kind of scams going into bleeding customer dry, wriggling out of claims and generally being a bunch of tossers.

Good Luck

It will be classed as wear and tear and you will have to pay I'd imagine.

Yeah but last year is 10+ months ago now. Its like saying your brake pads have worn out and trying to claim for them. You may win, but I think they will class it as wear and tear.

They will class it as wear & tear. You'd be surprised what they class as wear and tear.

Yea, for about 5 complaints from about 170,000 cars sold. Good work there BBC.

If you buy a second hand car you always have these issues. Clutches aren't covered by warranty, you wouldn't be ranting if this was a private sale. You could easily kill a clutch in a year too if you drove like an idiot, not saying that you do though, the previous owner(s) could have done the damage. Or it could be a manufacturing defect covered by the manufactures warranty which I assume is now expired as you bought a warranty (which is a con anyway).

I NEVER buy from traders. Only Private/dealer.

The one car I did buy trade was overpriced and the clutch went on it in the first month. Luckily they replaced it under the warranty but put me off.

Surely a dealer is trade? Also, if you bought private and the clutch went you would have to fork out for it all yourself, at least you could try and claim if bought from a garage.

Seems a contradictory statement.

I hate people who think that can claim what they like on "warrenty".

I work for nissan and im always arguing with people who think brakes/clutches etc shouldnt go wrong!

im not saying they shouldn't go wrong, but i took this 'extended warrenty' out, and in the booklet it says it covers the clutch/clutch cable etc.

Update
Poppe din to a VAG Specialists and the mechanic there said it could be the pedal box but he explained and said that if carcraft cant do it them bring it to us and we'll have it done within a day, at Ł277 all in all (rough price).
