This was on Fifth Gear last night and they seemed really quite pleased with it.
The standard Abarth Punto has a 1.4 Turbo engine with about 155bhp.
But the 'Abarth Essesse' uses the same engine, not remapped, with a bigger turbo to 180bhp. And it looked stunning.
Struggling to find decent information though, and the Fifth Gear website hasn't been updated.
It doesn't have such lairy bumpers as this, but still looks good:
http://www.autoblog.com/2007/09/03/frankfurt-preview-fiat-grande-punto-abarth-ss/
And they're doing a 500 Abarth Essesse

The bumpers are like the standard Abarth really, nothing like that
I still haven't seen an Abarth on the road, the seem like a long time coming.
Oh yeah, the 'Essesse' kit is a dealer fit option, at £4k

That 180 brake punto is cool as fuck, i may look into one more. Melissa dad has the 1.4T on a 57 plate (top of the range one with the 17's) at the moment and that is fair fucking quick.

Something Italian combined with the use of 'SS' is an ill thought out plan!

the reason you havent seen an Arbarth is all on here
http://www.fiat.co.uk/500abarth/Default.aspx
which basically says put down a £500 deposit and you've a car when they are released comes with some catches though
FAQs (http://www.fiat.co.uk/500abarth/FAQs.aspx)
What is the total price of the new car?
Pricing for the 500 Abarth has not been confirmed yet. We will announce this closer to the UK launch, early next year. Your nearest Abarth dealer will let you know the final exact price of your car (which depends on your chosen specifications) when you place your final order.
When will I get my new car?
We expect to launch the 500 Abarth in the early part of 2009 in the UK. As a valued customer, we will keep you up to date with the launch process with regular communications. Closer to the time, your nearest dealer will be in touch with you to keep you informed of exactly when your new car is ready for collection.
When can I see a 500 Abarth?
We will have UK specification cars in the UK Abarth dealer network in the first few months of 2009. Because you're a valued customer, we will keep you up to date with the launch process of the car. Needless to say, you will be one of the first to know when the first 500 Abarth models become available, and your nearest Abarth dealer will arrange an appointment for you to test drive the car as soon as possible. - no confirmed date

What happens if I don't want the car once I've picked it up?
Your deposit will not be refundable once an order is placed with an Abarth dealer. Your order with the dealer can, of course, be cancelled, but we will not return the £500 reservation fee.
summary - pay £500 now which will not be refunded, as a deposit on a car you can see, we dont know when will be available nor can tell you how much it will cost you - but you will be one of the first to own one!

Id like to point out that the 1.4 tjet that im buying is the same engine and is nearer 140bhp than 120bhp.. the only real differences are the turbo's and odd bit of inlet piping.. intercoolers are the same.. internals i.e rods + pistons etc are the same.... although different cams and injection ctrl unit (ecu)
p.s.. i forgot about the brembo's..
