Ian, S3s are nowhere near as heavily built or sturdy underneath as the S1s and 2s. Bear that in mind if she's to see any action.

Jolly good. A friend of mine has an M reg V8 on gas. Cracking motor.
In my experience, S3s have really weedy gauge steel on the chassis and the leading/trailing arms on the suspension are substandard compared to earlier models. That said, the manual TD5 is very rapid. Presumably due to the chassis weighing half what it should do
