I find it ironic that this post is pretty much shite though. What purpose is it serving? You haven't really described a problem, or even named names, which in this case could be useful. Well, actually, if someone's causing grief, why not just mention it to admin, or send a quick u2u to the person pissing you off?

Quick answer - can we ban members who talk shit - no.

Personal attack can generally be quantifed and if it's got that far it's usually too difficult to fix anyway, hence bans.

Giving bad technical advice isn't quite in the same league. Although yes, it generally needs action, I wouldn't be comfortable making judgements enough to ban based on the quality of advice.
