yes this is what i have done to my astra since owning it, tons of information to put in yet,
this is how you tune a 8 valve spi or the easy route red top and let some one else tune the motor for you :

you have just made it worse, it's the bigger the gap the better, why do you think you get aftermarket coils with a higher voltage output...so the spark will jump further FFS
