The industry im in now is pretty secure (Oil/Gas Exploration), just goes to confirm I made the right decision when I packed in my old job in Quantity Surveying (new build housing contractor) when I did as im sure id be getting made redundant some time soon. Heard my old companies struggling to pick up work!

I've just suffered redundancy. The company I worked for (consultant structural/civil engineers) were starting to struggle and cut quite a few people.
I've just went back to university this year too. Hopefully by the time I graduate the industry will be back in a better state.

Not facing redundancy but with the workload dropping and big companies undercutting everyone it's all tightening up.

Nope, even though my industry is decorating. People seem to be spending money on home improvements still.

Yes, people aren't buying houses just doing up the ones they live in?

We sell pricey stuff though, so they aren't even cutting back or skimping on quality.

Well I personally would like the best in my place, tradesmen have walked down my drive wanting to quit their careers because they think they can get away with doing half a job.

We distribute wallpaper and fabric, some of the wallpaper retails for £49 per roll. Stuff like that you'd have thought people would maybe hold back on and wait. But it's as busy as ever. Should count myself luck I suppose.

My job is perfectly safe, we're very busy at the moment and they could easily keep me in work for 12 months with the projects we've got lined up.
What gets me though is on the news we're told people can't afford food because the petrol and everything else is so expensive, yet Nath hardly sees any different with rediculously expensive products.
I think the media reporting is very OTT (as always) and not helping the situation.

We're real busy right now, but, I still see redundancies, but they will get rid of the temps first, I need to keep my job til at least end of feb otherwise it will fuck my emigration right up.
