Was running a bit late to work this morning, was hung over and just couldn't be arsed driving to the Park and Ride, so I dumped it on the street near work - which is under a 4hour controlled parking rule.

I then couldn't be arsed (again) to move the car at lunch time, so at hometime I have a ticket. I'm 100% in the wrong and it serves me right for being lazy

But....

They got my registration number wrong on the ticket, it's EM04UPT instead of the proper FM04UPT

Could this be used to get me out of the £60 fine, which I find to be a bit excessive anyway

Fine is from the local council - got 14 days to either pay up or contest. Think it's worth a go?

It's printed, and incorrectly printed twice

What shall I do then? Just not pay and see what happens?

I've never been a rebel before - I just don't know what to do

You should be able to get away with it. The details are wrong so they dont really have a leg to stand on. They say that it's a legal document but if it's wrong it's void!

If they ask say you binned it, as you thought it was for a different car with it not having your reg printed on.

Have you put that reg into a database to see what car it comes up as?

Vehicle Details Vehicle Details
The summary vehicle description is supplied by the DVLA
for registration number EM04UPT
No descriptive data is held by DVLA for registration number EM04UPT.

I would go down to the bit your meant to pay at & tell them it was stuck top your car but this isnt your reg. Im 90% sure I saw someone do that on TV on on some traffic warderns show do that & got away with it!!

not sure on this, EM04UPT is not a valid reg number so they may try the next closest digit and do a search, is the type of car printed on the ticket?

I'm thinking of just not paying it and waiting for them to contact me. They've obviously got me down in their database with an incorrect registration number so they will struggle to track me down.... unless they've got a photo of course, but you think it's worth the risk of just sitting on the ticket for a while?

£60 is £60

Should be half the price if you pay within 14 days though.

I contested one before as I forgot to write my registration on the parking permit and won, and he definetly took a picture. So it can be done.
