yeh iirc you can ride any bike when you pass your test and can take your test and probably will on a 500cc bike. a easy bike to pass your test on is the honda cg 125

would people recommend me taking a cbt on a 125 rather than going straight in for my bike bike test as i havent rode a manual bike before and only ever rode scooters at 16/17

At 16 you can do CBT and ride a moped / bike up to 50cc. At 17 you can ride up to 125cc on a CBT. CBT lasts for 2 years from when taken.

Then at 17 you can take your full bike test, on your 125cc bike, and then ride anything you like but has to be restricted.

I had a CBR600 RR when i was 17, and i was only just 17 as i passed within a week of my b/day.

Great fun, but be careful !

Go for the full test (DAS).

Yes you will need a CBT, but this can be included in your training.

You can pass your test and get thousand cc superbike, although I highly wouldn't advise it.

Go straight for your DAS, but don't go for a SS600 as your first bike please!!!!!!

Direct Access mate.

do your CBT, then take some lessons and pass your practical test on a "big bike" usually a 500cc, that will allow you to buy any bike you want... insuring it will be a different matter though.

if at your age, you pass on a 125cc, you will be restricted to no more than 33hp for 2 years before your allowed on anything bigger.
