How does everyone feel about flying?
I got promoted a couple of months ago and my new role requires me to fly between Norwich and Manchester quite a bit. (We have an office in Bolton)
My first trip is on Thursday and I am reallllllllllllllllly scared
It is on one of those prop planes too
On a good note Manchester airport used to be one of my fave places to road trip to when I lived in Sheff, as I am partial to a bit of plane spotting
Not been there for a while and have a bit of time to kill before my return flight so gonna head to the pub and watch planes land like old times
Anyone fancy a drink

flown many a time in the ATC, have 15hours or so in light (2 seater) aircraft and flew solo at 16....flying is easy, and great fun.

you've honestly nothing to be scared of, smaller aircraft are much more fun so make the most of it and enjoy it!

commercial airliners i detest.

Been in a dehaviland rapide, which was one of my favourite experiences ever.

Theres something unnatural about being herded like cattle into a cigar tube and not allowed to move for hours

I imagine a turbo prop

That's the part i don't like not the actual flying, you're like a massive tin of sardines with a couple of jet engines attached.

The thing you need to remember to get over the fear is your statistically more likely to die driving to the airport. 1 in 5000 compared to 1 in 11 million.

It doesn't help much when things go a little wrong and the press sensationalise it to make a story too. Take the oxy masks going down recently on a couple of Ryanair flights. Apparently everyone cheated death according to some sources

Dan I work practically at the airport terminal so I will just walk out of work and in the building 1 hour before the flight and hit the bar and flight is 50 min not sure about the other end but i can hire a car or get taxi

work are paying and it beats driving on my own like Carl says its around 6 hours

it should take you no more than 30 mins to get from manc airport to the centre of Bolton by car. Obviously i don't know where your office in Bolton is so can't be specific. you could always get the train to Bolton as there is one that goes direct but its actually slightly quicker by car and not as scruffy!

Flew from Poland to Ukraine once, old style plane with propellers.

It was sooo loud we couldnt talk to each other and i had a window seat over looknig the engine whick looked like it had recently been on fire.

I love flying.

Is it a light aircraft you're flying in? What do you meant by "one of those prop planes" cos there are some massive planes which use props!
