shouldnt feel stupid, its a genuine reason, you may have just strech it, or torn fibres, worth going in my opinion.

Do you wear heels alot? as this maybe playing a big part?

Step dad snapped both of his in the past at different times, and one of them twice. He was on crutches for weeks and he cant do anything really active. Get it looked at if the flat shoes dont help

Thats what I was gonna say! I've had it a few times aswell. If you put your tendon between you thumb and finger and move your foot up and down it creaks!

Yes, basically all the tendon 'lubricant' gets stripped off the tendon or becomes dry and is quite uncomfortable.

A-Tendonitis is Painfull++

Symptom wise, Pain running from rear of ankle, down to the underside of your foot. Worse on walking/exercise. In many cases you can see the tendon 'line' where it runs being red and nasty looking.

Treatment is Rest and NSAID's (Like Ibuprofen) both of which work very effectively. Though we are talking certainly 3+ weeks for proper recovery.

Supportive shoes and socks also go some way to help.

Incidentally, point of interest, runners that wear 'cushioned' running shoes (usually to combat underpronation) get this alot due to the cushion effect having 'too much' give and causing the tendon to stretch too much!
