Right here goes.
Since having the XE put into my corsa, ive never had a working speedo(lazyness) so yesterday i decided to bite the bullet and sort it.
Went to the scrappies and got tigra clocks and the matching cable and the speedo drive.
The car was ellecy speedo to start with so when i tried to find the grommit in the bulkhead to feed it through i found out there wasnt 1.So i had to feed it thro as close to where it would be on a grommit which had a batch of wires.Got it all feed throught fine after numerous times under the car and in the cabin. But it was very tight. It was working fine but due to the shortness of the cable, when i was selecting 4th u felt it pulling on the cable.stayed in gear fine tho.But eventually it snapped after u good few pulls.
So what i want to know is,can i fit a longer cable from something else that will have a bit more play in it??By looking at the cable and speedo drive,im thinking maybe 1 from an astra gsi or the likes would be fine??Or is theyr a difference between the tigra cable i have and a corsa cable??Surely they would just be the same as theyr practically the same car.
If it was a couple of inches longer it would be fine.
Cheers,Nik

Do a proper job, drill through the pedal box and put a gromet in the hole and route the cable properly.

@ Fruitbooter:thats what im thinking, just need to know if its gonna be long enough.
@ ed:Not worth the hassle. There just isnt enough space and tbh i dont think that would sort the problem as theyr are other bits in the way.Ive got it routed as close to where it would be(infact id say it was closer to the gearbox) and its still tight.
@ B3KAN:Wanted the orange needle 140mph clocks.
