I sent the papers off earlier in the year notifying engine change and change of keeper to me ( was in dads name when car was bought ).
I had the forms back earlier this week with it still as a 1.4 on the logbook, and now through the post has come a letter of them wanting confirmation and reports of the conversion.
What a pain in the arse when im trying to sell the car. The engine was converted privatly by experinced chaps who have done plenty of conversions.

Im sure 99% of people on here have not had to do this stupid report. They have just had ammended documents back. Should I just ignore it or have to do the report.

I just though they changed it all over with no need of any reports?

Who do you have to get the report off and have they got documentation you need to get a garage to fill in or is it just a case of writing a letter saying I ..... can confirm that this car has ....engine in...............

You have to get a verified form from a qualified garage to say the engine was replaced there, otherwise it cant be changed.

if it was sold as a 2ltr they want a report from the garage,

if a garage carried out the work they want a report from them

if not rac / aa report at over £133

Written confirmation from the manufacturer

or if it took place before i bought the car confirmation on headed noe paper from a garage.

the engine was replaced privately so the only route really is the expensive report via rac / aa.

Or could a garage say that the conversion is sound / secure etc

I never had to have a report or anything. Just told them it had a 2 litre and they changed it and gave me a new tax disc and v5.

Sounds like a complete pain in the arse though.

also heard that , if the conversion was done before you got it, you just need to get a garage to say that it was in there before you bought it and thats fine, not sure if thats right thought, i could do with knowing more on this as bought a 2litre but still 1.4 on log book and i nearly finished rebuilding it and will be sending my papers off next week to change it to 2litre

I bought one with a 2.0 in that was still registered as a 1.4... the DVLA changed it straight away without a report needed.

On my other one i also a 2.0, i bought it off my bro who had the conversion done from a 1.2. He didn't need a report doing.

i had to do this a few weeks ago for mine.

i bought is as a 2.0 but was still 1.4 on the books.
i just took it to my local garage who checked it over and did me a report which basically said:

"this engine has been professionally installed, brakes + suspension uprated to match etc, etc..."

sent it off an hey presto, even got away with not having to pay for the higher tax band
