On my air box there's a random extra bit on the right that the intake pipe also connects to, but it doesn't seem to go anywhere. Does anyone know what it is?
I took a pic on my phone but my PC is broken and can only get pics off of it on there

It goes to the extra box on the side.
No-one seems to know exactly the point in it. It's only found on the 12v's too

That's the one, Deano, I can only find pics of 1.4/1.6 engine bays and it's not on there
I took my intake pipe off earlier to see what difference it made and wondered if that box was important.
My mate said "maybe it's there to take air in "to save fuel"". I dunno but it seems like a pointless box to me. There's nothing going in or out of it apart from air

It is very strange, because although the cold air feed splits, the two sides of the air box aren't joined in any way.
I might try and get hold of a spare cold air feed, cut of the additional bit that goes into the weird box and see what happens.

I went all the way and took the cold air feed off, only realizing that it might get heatsoak about ten minutes ago, but it sounds a fair bit louder and I think it accelerates more too
Would a pipe from a bigger engine fit do you reckon?

There all the same size iirc.
Could just get a air box off a newer model and drill it out.

Nice
Down the scrappies to look for Corsa's at the weekend then
If anybody does happen to pop along and knows what the box is for, put us all out of our misery

I haven't had a cold air feed pipe in mine for about a year and I've never got heatsoak. Sounds better without it and ya don't need it unless ya gotta cone filter anyways. Leave it off!

Don't waste your money on your K&N/cone. Get a decent cold air feed going from the lower grill to standard airbox. Get a performance panel filter and drill the wing side of the airbox.

I think he meant a K&N panel filter...

I was thinking of a K&N panel filter, should have been more specific, really.
There's that bit of the air box on the wing side that looks like it comes off, am I right in thinking that? Inside it kind of has slats that looks like it supports the side if you take the thing off, kind of like pre-drilled if you know what I mean.
If it's faster in my mind then that's good enough for me

I have a derestricted and drilled airbox with a Courtney Sport panel filter and aftermarket exhaust and mine don't feel no faster so I doubt yours does!

Hahaha fair enough
Mine got a fair bit slower after putting the wheels on as well, I got 16" Softstars last week
When PC is fixed there will be pics
The thing with making it sound louder is that you get a reduction in mpg. Well I do anyway, from giving it a bit more throttle

Fair enough
Ooh, while I remember, my throttle is really stiff, yet every car I've ever driven (and van ) has been nice and soft and smooth. What's yours like?

Seems alright to me, not as soft as the other two cars I drive occasionally but they are alot faster than my 12v.

Fair enough, I was thinking it might be the spring on the end of the cable.
We have a Corsa C Combo at work now (1.7 DI ) and that's really soft, I keep going to press it hard like normal, then the turbo kicks in and I end up spinning the front wheels
