A 1.4 16v
1999 T plate with 85k on it. only 1 owner.
FSH just recently had cambelt, last week had 4 new tyres, air-con re-gas, disks and pads
For about 1k and its mint!
BUT its a 1.4 16v and i wanted a 1.6 to mod!
What are the differences in power? Really Noticeable!

There is quite a sizeable difference between the 1.4 and 1.6, especially when it comes to modifying them!

doesn't seem a bad price that
if it's insurance/tax etc thats holding u back then go for it, then change engine at a later date
or look out for a cheap x16 engine and sell the x14

yes, if you want power wait for a nice 1.6 to come about. its basically 85/86 bhp against 106 bhp. ive had both and the 1.6 is way better and my MPG is roughly the same if not better in the 1.6

And that would have you at a pretty similar pace to a 1.6... So not worth it.

if you cam it after an inlet and manifold you will need a remap to get the best out of mods, you should see about 125-130bhp hopefully.
i am reffering to a 1.6 btw. i think Linch has the same kind of set up with throttle bodies, best to ask him for further info

Differences:
17BHP
1 sec quicker 0-60
9MPH higher top end
and 4 insurance groups higher...

a 1.6 with inlet, fast road cams, SBD cam rollers, unichip/remap - that will see 150bhp.
so i 1.4 will see 125-130 as said above.
