Iv done an insurance quote on a 2005 Fiesta Zetec-S and got a quote back at £830 fully comp in my own name.

But this was with 1years NCB, but i've been a named driver since starting to drive. I know some of you have said the insurance dont check but what would my chances be with asking my insurance company if they would give me a years NCB?

Otherwise it's about £1400

I've asked my mum to give them a ring to see if they'd give me one. If not ask if i'd get one if i was to start a policy in my own name. If not back on my mums policy for another year :-(

If you are the main driver of a car and you are not insured as a main driver you could have invalid insurance when you need it most, its called fronting, google it if you want

Also, going on your mums policy again (ignoring the possible illegalities) is not going to help you in the long run, as your insurance is always going to be expensive without no claims, unless you go on her policy until you are 30 or something

Could always give quinn-direct a call, and put down how long you have been a named driver. You get a hefty discount the longer you have been a named driver, and if more than 5 years its pretty much the same as a few years no claims.

Give it a crack

Im on my mums insurance, will be till I get caught to,

Its less risky on a standard car, I think questions start to be asked when you have a 50 yr old woman owning a modded saxo VTR and her young son always driving it round

They're not normally keen to have you on it anymore when you crash and lose their no claims

The other issue is that for 3 years you have to put down the crash on both any insurance you get and any ones the parent does.

I've done it myself, just the pitfalls I came across.

When I got my own the prices quickly dropped.
