Im starting college in december and was wondering does anyone go and whats the abursury ( sp? )

My mum is a single parent and im 19 and living at home mum has a big savings account that she pays for the house and bills etc? But we have no additional money coming in :/

A bursary (think that's what you meant?) is funding given to someone who is outstanding in a field of excellence. For example, if you have represented the country for some kind of sport then you might be awarded a scholarship by a university or collage to go and study there.

You can apply for means tested funding to carry onto further education. These are paid on top of student loans in the form of grants which don't need to be paid back for someone in your situation. There is a lot of info on http://www.direct.gov.uk and http://www.studentfinancedirect.co.uk which would be useful to look at.

Can also get EMA which is an extra £30 a week (i think) for you

i have sent an application in to start college got to go to an open day tommorow so they can get my application thru quicker as i applyed late

You might be a bit old for EMA and there are also some financial conditions for application.

There may be an adult learning grant scheme at the college but these are organised locally rather than nationally do it'll differ where you are.

It'll also depend on what type of course you are studying. The college themselves are generally the best people to speak to.
