What are these like? Is there alot you can do to the engine to squeeze anymore power out of it?

What are they like for handling out of the box?

Any other opinions?

Thanks

i have heard that they can easily keep up with an ST, as they are very underpowered for a 2litre.

The 1.6 is only about 100bhp, the 2.0 is about 150/60 i think.

The ZS is around 9.8 to 60mph and the ST is around 7.5.

The ZS is slow and so is the ST in it's class.

I like the mk5 but its no bigger than a corsa. The mk6 has a decent size boot and more room for rear passengers

my mates got a white one with full leather interior etc.

its not very quick, only pulls off from a 1.25 zetec after about 60.
seats/handleing are good though.

What a MK5 ZS?

I had a 1.25 MK5 and it was 'quick' for a 1.25 but never stood a hope against a ZS.

But my 1.4 sport only pulls away from a sxi afer about 50.

Does these see anything from breather mods? Asked on an zetec s forum but awaiting a reply

I am lowered on 45mm Spax springs. Considering the size of the car it handles surprisingly well! I don't really push it that often as it's not what I bought the car for, but I've had a couple of people in the car when I've been giving it and they're surprised at how quickly it goes around a corner.

Erm well my old Corsa was on coilovers so handled pretty well, Fiesta isn't that good

Build quality seems fine, obviously it's not the best you can get as it's a Ford and built cheap. Interior is fairly 'plastic' but the seats are very very comfy. I have driven back from Scotland on a 7 hour trip and didn't get uncomfy once. They have a few different moveable positions.

Only annoying part is the headunits in them, it's a bitch to put an aftermarket one in. Took ages! But it's do-able.

I have the MK6.5 with this stereo.

The dash in this version is much improved and quality is reasonable.

What makes changing them difficult?

The zetec-s would have different suspension anyway i'd of thought. My corsa is only on springs and i've had under and oversteer in it

Insurance aint bad on the 1.6 but for the ST its 4 times as much

Because they have these stupid 3 bars seperating the headunit parts:

And you have to take it all out (which involves taking lots of panels off around it to get to it), then cut them off with a saw, or pay £70 for the sat nav fascia from Fords.

I fucked up the focus on this one!

Zetec S sits slightly lower than the 1.4 but it's worth buying some springs anyway, it sits high otherwise!
